She married Ernest Monroe Montgomery December 23,1933. Ernest was born April 29, 1912. Ernest was the son of Thomas Francis Montgomery and Elizabeth Cordelia (Betsy) Walker. Ernest died March 27, 2008 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co, MS. OBIT: Services for Ernest Montgomery, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, at Brookhaven Funeral Home's Jackson Street Location Chapel with burial in Hillcrest Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Montgomery, 95, died March 27, 2008, at Shady Oaks Nursing Home. He was born in Lincoln County on April 29, 1912, to Thomas Francis Montgomery and Betty Walker Montgomery.

He was retired from Southern Wholesale Company with over 40 years of service and was also a farmer. He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Mildred Smith Montgomery; his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Claude Bennett Smith, of Brookhaven; his sister, Ila Ruth Dunaway, of Brookhaven; his grandsons, Scott Smith, of Clinton, and Steve Smith, of Edmond, Okla.; and his great-grandchildren, Riley and Laura Smith, both of Clinton.

Ernest Monroe Montgomery and Mildred Verna Smith had the following children:

 26000 ii. Infant Montgomery was born December 7, 1941. Infant died December 7, 1941. The infant was buried in Hillcrest Church of Christ Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.
