Mabel died July 2, 2005 in Natchez, Adams Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Mable Newell, of Natchez, were 10 a.m. Monday, July 4 at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel in Natchez with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Newell, 87, died July 2, 2005, at Natchez Regional Medical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on May 16, 1918, to Arnold and Nancy Smith.

She was a member of Washington Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Parley F. Newell; her sister, Lucille Allgood; and her brother, James Smith.

Survivors are her two daughters, Virginia Grainger, of Roxie, and Kathy Seydell, of Natchez; her sister, Darcous Winborn, of Natchez; her brother, Cleveland Smith, of Brookhaven; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She married Frank Parley Newell December 20, 1939. Frank was born July 23, 1913 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Frank was the son of Luther Prentis Newell and Susan Helen Britt. Frank died February 2, 1997 in Natchez, Adams Co., MS.. Frank was buried in Natchez, Adams Co., MS.

Mabel Smith and Frank Parley Newell had the following children:

 41400 ii. Randy Parley Newell was born December 4, 1952. Randy died September 28, 2001.

 41401 iii. Kathy Dianne Newell (living).
