Cleveland died November 11, 2010 in Bogue Chitto, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Funeral services for Cleveland Arnold Smith, of Bogue Chitto, were 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Natchez Drive, with burial in Stewart Cemetery in Bogue Chitto.
Mr. Smith, 88, died Nov. 11, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Lincoln County on April 9, 1922, to Arnold Jasper Smith and Nancy Matilda Smith Smith.
He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Cold Springs Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, Norma Dean Smith; his sisters, Grace Allen, Mable Newell and Lucille Allgood; and his brothers, Clem, Claude, Carlos and James Smith.
Survivors are his wife, Ethel Stewart Smith, of Bogue Chitto; his son, Wade Smith and wife, Teresa, of Wesson; his daughters, Betty Opal Martin and husband, Phillip, Dale Allred and husband, Keith, and Sally Smith, all of Bogue Chitto, and Jane Gill and husband, Jerry, of Brookhaven; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and his sister, Darkis Winborne, of Nashville, Tenn.
He married Ethel Stewart Norman August 15, 1942. Ethel was born January 14, 1923 in Bogue Chitto, Lincoln Co., MS. Ethel was the daughter of Thomas Dixon Norman and Evelyn Stewart. Ethel died October 6, 2015 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Mrs. Ethel Norman Smith, 92, of Bogue Chitto, MS passed from this life on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Brookhaven, MS. Mrs. Smith was born on January 14, 1923 in Bogue Chitto, MS to Tommie and Evelyn Stewart Norman.
Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 12:00 Noon till 2:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Following the service the interment ceremony will be held at Stewart Cemetery in Bogue Chitto, MS.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Cold Springs Church of Christ in Bogue Chitto, MS. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cleveland Smith; an infant daughter, Norma Dean Smith; brother John Norman; and sister Opal Norman.
Survivors are her son, Wade Smith and wife Teresa; daughters Betty Martin and husband Phillip, Sally Smith, Jane Gill and husband Jerry, and Dale Allred and husband Keith; 12 grandchildren ; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and her special friend and roommate at Golden Living Center, Mary Jackson.
