Langston died October 11, 2002 in Madras, Jefferson Co., OR. OBIT: Madras resident Langston D. Fisher died Oct. 11, 2002, at Mountain View Hospital at the age of 84. Mr. Fisher was born Oct. 19, 1917, in Manifest, La., the oldest of six children of Zack and Lillian Fisher. He was raised in Harrisonburg, La., and graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1936. He ;moved to Orland, Calif., and worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps on irrigation projects for two years, then joined the Army. During World War II, he worked side-by-side with doctors as a medical and surgical technician, which he greatly enjoyed. In Orland he met Clarice Rice, previously from Madras, and they were married March 14, 1943, then moved to Madras after his discharge from the Army in 1946. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at the Madras Airport for two years, then decided to farm full-time. Mr. Langston farmed and sold real estate for many years in the Madras area before buying the City Center Motel in Madras in 1971. He ran the motel until 1984, after which he became involved in the trucking business. He had also been involved with the used-car business for over 40 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a deacon there for many years. he was a past master of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Odd Fellows. His special interests included hunting, horseback riding and visiting with friends and family. He also enjoyed a close father-son-like relationship with Steve Thornton of Madras. He was honored as the Jefferson County Pioneer Man in 2000. Survivors include his son, Zack Fisher of Madras; daughter, Penny Marston of Ashwood; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Bankston of Harrisonburg, La., and Ann Eubanks of Westwego, La. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice in August 1968, two brothers, and one sister.

He married Clarice Albertine Rice March 14, 1943. Clarice was born 1921. Clarice died August 1968.
