He married Katie Lee Calcote December 25, 1918. Katie was born January 7, 1899 in Lincoln Co., MS. Katie was the daughter of James Overton Calcote and Alma Emeline Segrest. Katie died January 23, 1984 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS.
Robert Eugene Smith and Katie Lee Calcote had the following children:

25252 ii. Janie Pearl Smith was born in Lincoln Co., MS April 5, 1925. Janie died January 6, 2010 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Janie Pearl Smith, of Meridian, are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel in Brookhaven with burial to follow at Friendship Baptist Church in Brookhaven. Miss Smith, 84, died Jan. 6, 2010, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Meridian.
She was born in Lincoln County on April 5, 1925, to Robert Eugene Smith and Katie Lou Calcote Smith.
She was a graduate of West Lincoln Attendance Center in Brookhaven and went on to graduate from Mississippi State University as the first female to graduate with a degree in laboratory technology.
She served as director of laboratory services at Rush Memorial Hospital in Meridian for 30 years. Upon retirement, the lab was named in her honor - Janie Pearl Smith Lab of Rush Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Eugene Smith Sr. and Katie Lou Calcote Smith.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Allene Smith Hunsucker and Katie Ruth Smith Alford and husband, Hollis Alford; and one brother, Robert Eugene Smith Jr. and wife, Elaine Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She is also survived by Mary Kate Everett, a very special, beloved and lifelong friend.
