Dorothy died July 20, 2012 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Mrs. Hunsucker, 89, died Aug. 20, 2012, at her home. She was born in Mississippi on Oct. 26, 1922, to Robert E.Smith Sr. and Katie Lou Calcote Smith. She was a homemaker and schoolteacher and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a pianist and Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. Mrs. Hunsucker retired from West Lincoln High School, where she taught for over 40 years. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Carl Lee Hunsucker; and sister, Janie Pearl Smith. Survivors are her son, James Earl Hunsucker; daughter, Betty Sue Grice; brother, Robert E. Smith Jr.; sister, Katie Ruth Alford; five grandchildren, John Stacy Grice, Melanie Leist, Misty Dawn Holcomb, Nikki Smith and Ariel Renee' Hawley; eight great-grandchildren, John Hunter Grice, John William Grice, Emma Leigh Grice, Carter Holcomb, Adi Grace Holcomb, Remington Graham Smith, John Braden Leist and Brennan Allen Leist;
She married Carl Lee Hunsucker January 13, 1946 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Carl was born November 17, 1919 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Carl was the son of Ebenezer (Eben) Hunsucker and Margaret Emeline (Maggie) Cushman. Carl died January 22, 2001 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Carl Lee Hunsucker of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Friendship Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 5-10 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Hunsucker, 81, died Jan. 22, 2001, at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 17, 1919, to Ebben Hunsucker and Margaret Cushman Hunsucker. He was retired as director of the Welfare Department. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sisters, Elsie Shaheen and Ruth Langford. Survivors are his wife, Allene Hunsucker of Brookhaven; his son, James Earl Hunsucker of Brookhaven; his daughter, Betty Grice of Brookhaven; his sisters, Muriel Cooper of Brookhaven and Helen Saddler of Yazoo City; his grandchildren, Stacy Grice, Melanie Leist, Misty Holcomb, Nikki Hunsucker, and Ariel Hunsucker, all of Brookhaven; and his great-grandson, Hunter Grice.
