OBIT: Services for Geraldine Smith Rushing of Brookhaven were 10 a.m., Thursday, May 20, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.
Mrs. Rushing, 73, died May 17, 2004, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on May 27, 1930, to Edgar J. Smith and Mary Case Smith. She was a homemaker. She loved farming and raising cattle. She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Melton Rushing Sr.; and her brother, Jennings Smith. Survivors are her sister, Donis Walker of Walker, La.; her niece, Daphne Eads of Walker; her nephew, Don H. Walker of Katy, Texas; five great-nieces and nephews; and two great-grandnieces.
She married Melton H. Rushing.
Melton was born March 2, 1919. Melton was the son of Henry Melton Rushing and Bertha Parthina Johnson. Melton died October 11, 1987 in Lincoln Co., MS. Melton was buried in Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery
